Ralphs Helps to Make Holiday Season Brighter for Children at California Hospital Medical Center
Supermarket Company Donates $5,000 to Purchase Holiday Gifts for Hospitalized Children
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- In the spirit of the holiday season,
Ralphs Supermarkets is giving a $5,000 gift to California Hospital Medical
Center.
The gift will be used by the CHMC's Pediatrics Department to purchase
holiday presents for young children being treated at the downtown Los Angeles
hospital. The donation is being made through the supermarket company's
philanthropic arm, the Ralphs Fund.
"With the sluggish economy, we're proud to be able to step up and help
children in our community," said Mike Donnelly, President of Ralphs
Supermarkets. "During this season of giving, we cannot think of a better way
to invest in our community than by giving families with children in the
hospital a reason to celebrate, and look forward to a healthier future."
Santa Claus will distribute toys and other gifts the hospital plans to
purchase with the grant from Ralphs to children at CHMC's annual family
holiday party on Tuesday, December 23, 2008.
"Our patients and their families are truly grateful for this holiday
celebration," said CHMC Foundation President Cliff Hoffman. "It means a lot to
us that our business neighbors such as Ralphs share our commitment to
community service."
Last year, Ralphs provided more than $12 million in cash and in-kind
donations to organizations focused on women's and children's health, K-12
education, the fight against hunger, celebrating multiculturalism and disaster
relief.
