SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that its Exo-atmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV) Divert and Attitude Control System (DACS) was essential to the Missile Defense Agency's latest successful Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system flight-intercept test. The critical GMD system is designed to protect the United States against a limited long-range ballistic missile attack.

During the Dec. 5 test, an interceptor carrying the Raytheon-built EKV was launched from the Ronald W. Reagan Missile Defense Site located at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. following the launch of a representative target missile from Kodiak, Alaska. The DACS maneuvered the EKV for a direct hit and intercepted the target.
