Aerojet Successfully Delivers TOW Bunker Buster Production Units
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aerojet, a GenCorp
(NYSE: GY) company, announced today that it has completed production and
delivery of 3,178 TOW Bunker Buster Warhead Assemblies to Raytheon Missile
Systems.
Raytheon's Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wireless (TOW) missile family
is the world's premier long-range precision weapon system for use against
armored vehicles, fortified buildings and amphibious landing ships. Bunker
Buster is a recently qualified warhead variant to the TOW missile. The
fragmenting, high-explosive warhead used in the TOW Bunker Buster missile can
breach or destroy a multitude of target sets, especially in the urban
environment. Raytheon integrates the warhead into the Bunker Buster missile at
its production facility in Tucson, Ariz.
Aerojet is also under subcontract to produce warheads for the TOW 2A and
TOW 2B missiles. Its TOW warhead production activity is conducted at three of
its sites across the U.S. -- Sacramento, Calif., Camden, Ark. and Socorro,
N.M. -- with final delivery out of the Socorro facility. To date, Aerojet has
delivered more than 60,000 TOW warheads.
