Almost Family Announces Acquisition of Kentucky Home Health Certificate of Need
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Almost Family, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AFAM) today announced that it has acquired the Kentucky Certificate
of Need and home health license of the Medicare-certified home health agency
formerly operated by Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. The
certificate will enable Almost Family to expand its service territory into
four additional counties south of the metro Louisville area.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to continue to extend our service
territory southward into the growing communities in these counties. We've
long wanted to service these areas. For years we have had referral sources
with patients in these areas but have been unable to take them due to
Kentucky's certificate of need process," said William B. Yarmuth, chairman and
chief executive officer of Almost Family. The Company will now be able to
service patients, and open new branches should it so desire, in Nelson, Meade,
Larue, and Breckenridge counties enlarging the population of its Louisville
based service area by about 10%.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
