Orthocrat Introduces at RSNA 2008: True 3D Orthopedic Templating With TeraRecon Integration
CHICAGO, November 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Orthocrat, Ltd. will unveil true 3D
orthopedic templating at the Annual Assembly of the Radiological Society of
North America.
Doron Norman, MD, Chairman of Orthopedics B at Rambam Medical Center
(Haifa) and Orthocrat's Medical Director and Co-Founder, said, "Orthopedic
templating has always been performed using regular two-dimensional x-rays,
and it is simply not possible to visualize, for example, how the cup will fit
precisely inside the pelvis during a hip replacement procedure. With 3D
templating using CT images, especially coupled with the ability to see the
results in 3D, the surgeon can have a far more precise understanding of the
surgery that he is about to perform."
Dr. Lawrence X. Webb, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Wake Forest
University Medical Center (Winston-Salem), comments: "In our Medical Center
we have been fortunate enough to have access to some of the best medical
technology. Our orthopedic surgeons are heavy users of TeraRecon. Ever since
we were introduced to digital orthopedic templating we felt that TeraRecon
and TraumaCAD should begin working together. We are very excited to see this
development in the market and are looking forward to seeing the product in
action."
"Orthocrat and TeraRecon have both pursued a vision of delivering
advanced imaging capability as an enterprise resource that is 'IT friendly',
enabling medical professionals to access radiology images in greater harmony
with IT and security policies, while enabling radiology to produce less film.
We are excited about this integration, because it brings together two
complementary visualization and planning solutions that will enable
orthopedic surgeons unprecedented access to digital decision support tools,
while enabling radiology to offer extended services to the surgical
department," said Robert Taylor, TeraRecon president and chief operating
officer.
"We chose to integrate with TeraRecon's Aquarius iNtuition(TM)
visualization platform because of its commanding presence in the marketplace,
and because it will immediately allow any hospital which already has the
Aquarius iNtuition solution to expand the capabilities it can offer to its
orthopedic surgeons," said Zeev Glozman, Orthocrat's CEO. "We are looking for
partnerships with leading institutions to further advance the state of
presurgical planning with such advanced tools."
Orthocrat will display its 3D templating with TeraRecon integration at
the 2008 RSNA meeting in Chicago, from November 30 to December 3. South Hall,
Booth # 4470.
