Usage Continues to Soar on Ticket to Read as Students Hit Five Million Mark

DALLAS, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Voyager Expanded Learning(R) announced today that students using Ticket to Read(TM), the company's online K-5 reading program, reached the five million passage mark due to increased usage, especially during after school hours and on weekends.

Students first logged in to Ticket to Read in August 2007 and since then have hit million passage milestones every few months.

    -- 1 million on February 26, 2008
    -- 2 million on April 15, 2008
    -- 3 million on May 22, 2008
    -- 4 million on July 21, 2008
    -- 5 million on November 4, 2008

Students are currently reading approximately 200,000 passages per week, which sets them up to reach the six million mark by early December.

"I have sat with students and listened in on Ticket to Read and honestly can tell you that as a classroom teacher of reading, this is without a doubt the best and most effective reading program I have encountered to date," says Eileen Summerville, second grade teacher at Whitehead Elementary School in Athens, Georgia.

Voyager continues to see dramatic increases in Ticket to Read usage on a weekly basis, especially during after school hours and on weekends. Usage during these specific times has increased from 24 percent to 29 percent.

"I have seen very few programs in my years of teaching young children to read that can hold a child's attention and prepare them to be accountable for what they have read, as this one does," says Ms. Summerville.
