Large Law Group Adds Celebrated Former Reporter to Roster

National Trend: Fifth Estate Taking Shape, Business Initiated In-Depth Journalism Growing

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- While newsrooms are shrinking, business-initiated journalism is evolving from jargon-filled press releases to in-depth expert analysis. Rose Law Group is on the front of that wave, hiring a famed fourth estate veteran to report on trends and share well-written, insightful stories with clients and leaders.

Following a 43-year journalism career, famed former Capitol Times scribe Phil Riske joined forces with Rose Law Group, Arizona's largest woman-owned law firm, in an unprecedented alliance between a law firm and a reporter, highlighting both the latest trends in the private-sector information sharing and the rapidly changing face of journalism.

Scottsdale-based Rose Law Group is the first firm in the nation to hire a full-time news correspondent to write up-to-the-minute stories on issues of importance to their expanding client roster. This comes at a time when beat reporters are being downsized, furloughed and spread too thin.

Riske's accolades speak for themselves. Following a career launch in 1967, at a small, west coast radio station, stints have included heading the Wyoming Bureau of the Intermountain Radio Network, consulting for Sports Illustrated for a famous case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court and serving as President of the Wyoming Chapter of Professional Journalists. There, he earned a Journalistic Achievement Award named for Ernest Linford, a Nieman Fellow at Harvard.

Following additional radio stints in Wyoming and Colorado, Riske served as Press Secretary for the late U.S. Senator Gale McGee before heading to Iowa to write feature stories for the Des Moines Register and Tribune, which held the honor of receiving more Pulitzer Prizes than any other U.S. newspaper at the time.

And this all came before his Arizona journalism career, where he became one of the most trusted in the business following positions with KSAA FM, St. Lukes Health System, the Maricopa County Bar Association and several other publications before becoming a State Senate Reporter at the Arizona Capitol Times in 2002.
