NEW YORK, NY UNITED STATES

North American Reseller's Study Finds CA ARCserve Backup is Clear Winner in Features and Technology and Provides Better ROI

ISLANDIA, N.Y., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA (Nasdaq: CA) today announced CA ARCserve(R) Backup came out on top again against Symantec(TM) Backup Exec(TM) in an independent study conducted by North American software reseller Productive Corporation. Productive found that the features and technology in CA ARCserve Backup "clearly are beyond what Symantec's Backup Exec has to offer" and it provides IT professionals with a better return on investment.

The results mark the second recent study concluding that CA ARCserve Backup is the best choice for customers that are looking for backup technology.

The study was published by Productive Corporation to provide its customers with an additional resource in determining the right data backup and recovery solution for their company's environment. They compared the products across nine categories, concluding that CA is equal to or better than Symantec in all of them. CA stood out from Symantec for ease of installation, ease of use, performance, supported systems, customer service and extra value. It also won in cost, driven by the reviewer's opinion that it offers more value for the money.

"We wanted to give IT professionals in small to mid-sized companies useful information to help them find the best way to protect data in their physical and virtual environments," said Todd O'Bert, president and CEO for Productive Corporation. "While both backup products are relatively similar in function, we found CA ARCserve Backup to be superior in critical areas, including return on investment."

Productive Corporation also advised that CA ARCserve Backup is a better choice for companies unsure of their rate of expansion, because it can expand further than Symantec Backup Exec.

"With each review of CA ARCserve Backup, the best choice for data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery technology becomes clearer," said Adam Famularo, senior vice president and general manager for CA's Recovery Management and Data Modeling Business Unit. "We will continue to work diligently to keep ARCserve at the top in critical functionality, support and overall value for our customers and partners."
