HELP USA Launches a National Online Service Project to Build Better Lives
NEW YORK, Sept. 14 HELP USA, the Congressional model for housing and services for the homeless with residences and programs throughout the country, today announced its virtual service project to fully launch nation-wide this October. HELP USA's HELP 1 Service Project is an online service campaign that lives at www.helpusa.org and features ground breaking creative capabilities to enhance and increase participation in service. The initiative allows Americans across the country to participate in a national service project that allows participants to virtually follow the progress of homeless individuals and in reality help rebuild their lives.
At a time when the movement for increased community service is sweeping the nation, HELP USA is offering an alternative way to get involved for those who don't have the time or opportunity to volunteer. Americans can take part in HELP USA's HELP 1 Service Project by sharing information and stories at www.helpusa.org about mentoring, serving meals, and improving shelter in communities across the country. A HELP USA HELP 1 Service Project participant's efforts result in accumulating service points, or "bricks", to build a virtual home for someone in need in REAL life.
Help USA Chairman, Maria Cuomo Cole, says of the HELP 1 Service Project, "While the causes are many, the reality of homelessness in the USA is staggering and the statistics continue to rise. By creating a forum for cyber-service, or virtual volunteering, HELP USA is likewise increasing the number of Americans who are getting involved to help combat homelessness and decrease the rate at which it grows across the nation."
