Firm Welcomes Former Los Angeles City Attorney to its Litigation Practice
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Goodwin Procter LLP announced today that former Los Angeles City Attorney Rockard J. "Rocky" Delgadillo has joined the firm as Counsel in its 400-attorney Litigation Department, a practice which includes two dozen former Assistant United States Attorneys and Department of Justice lawyers. Delgadillo joins Goodwin Procter after eight years of service, the term limit, as the City's chief lawyer and chief criminal prosecutor, leading over 550 attorneys who comprise the Los Angeles City Attorney's office.
"We are both pleased and proud to have Rocky Delgadillo join our California practice," said Lewis G. Feldman, Goodwin Procter's Los Angeles Chair. "He is not only a skilled manager and litigator, but his more than 20 years of experience and expertise in economic development transactions and government law and policy should also significantly benefit the clients of our firm. Rocky's initiative, creativity and collaborative leadership made an enduring, significant positive impact on our City and our State. He has left a legacy of progress and positive change. We look forward to our clients, our community and our firm benefitting from his presence."
"I'm thrilled to join one of the nation's most respected, innovative and collaborative law firms," said Delgadillo. "Goodwin Procter enjoys a reputation of the highest quality within both the public and private sectors. Of personal importance to me, Goodwin Procter also gives back to those communities in which it works through its diversity initiatives and over 55,000 hours of Pro Bono work last year alone. I look forward to continuing to do my part to make Los Angeles and California a better place for everyone."
Goodwin Procter, which now has over 100 attorneys in California, first established its West Coast presence in 2006, opening offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. It expanded in 2007 with a second office in Downtown L.A. and San Diego, and launched its Silicon Valley presence later that year.
In 2001, Delgadillo became the first Latino to win Citywide office in more than a century. He became known for his award-winning Neighborhood Prosecutor Program - a ground-breaking approach to cracking down on crime and gang activity in the heart of L.A.'s neighborhoods. As City Attorney, Delgadillo improved neighborhood safety by slashing the City's liability costs and, with those savings, generated millions to help pay for police and other crucial City services. Prior to being elected City Attorney, Delgadillo served as Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles for Economic Development. He graduated from Harvard University and earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
