-A Limited Number of Individual Playing Spots Still Available for a Short Time-
DETROIT, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Sponsorships for the sixth annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic, one of the top fundraisers for Think Detroit PAL, scheduled for Monday, August 17 at the Detroit Golf Club, are nearly sold out. A limited number of individual playing spots are still available for $1,000 each until July 31. Individuals interested in playing may register online at www.paulwsmithgolf.com/sponsorship-registration
Over the past five years the tournament has netted $1.6 million to benefit Detroit's youth. Some sponsorship opportunities are still available and range from $2,500 to $20,000.
Think Detroit PAL was formed by the merger of Think Detroit, Inc. and the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL), making it one of the largest inner-city sports leagues in the nation.
Think Detroit PAL, in partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, builds character in young people through athletic, academic and leadership development programs, serving nearly 13,000 youngsters with the help of 1,500 volunteers. Think Detroit PAL relies solely on contributions from individual donors, foundations and corporations.
Last year's sold-out tournament netted more than $400,000 for Think Detroit PAL. The funds raised from this year's event will help increase the number of youth served through its award winning programs.
The Paul W. Smith Golf Classic is a best-ball scramble format and features two shotgun scrambles, plus a short-game clinic with noted instructor Rick Smith and contests such as Longest Drive, Longest Putt, Closest-to-the-Pin and Hole-in-One. The afternoon concludes with a reception and awards dinner.
