General Counsel Honor Bass, Berry & Sims as a 'Top Corporate Law Firm'

Corporate Board Member Magazine Releases Annual List of "America's Best Corporate Law Firms"

NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Bass, Berry & Sims PLC has been named the best corporate law firm in Nashville for the eighth consecutive year by Corporate Board Member magazine. The magazine's annual "America's Best Corporate Law Firms" identifies the top corporate law firm in 25 major metropolitan areas, as well as the top 20 national corporate law firms, based on a survey of general counsel and directors serving on boards of publicly traded companies.

"We are delighted to be recognized by general counsel as a top corporate law firm," said Todd Rolapp, chair of the firm's Corporate and Securities Department and leader of the Executive Compensation Group. "We take great pride in Bass, Berry & Sims' position as a go-to corporate firm for both regional and national clients, and this honor further confirms our sustained success, despite challenges posed by the economic downturn."

Bass, Berry & Sims is consistently recognized in key legal industry rankings and events. In the past year, Working Mother Magazine ranked Bass, Berry & Sims as one of the "50 Best Law Firms for Women in the U.S." and Chambers USA ranked several of the firm's practices, including the firm's Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) practice, #1 in Tennessee for the sixth consecutive year.

The firm is one of only two law firms to produce two American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Section chairs. Currently, attorneys with the firm also hold key positions on ABA committees. Jim Cheek is co-chair of the Coordinating Task Force on Financial Markets and Institutions and Leigh Walton is chair of the Committee on M&A of the Business Law Section. Walton is also co-chair of the Transactions Affinity Group of the American Health Lawyers Association Business Law and Governance Practice Group.

Corporate Board Member magazine is an informational resource for senior officers and directors of publicly traded corporations, top private companies, and Global 1000 firms. The complete national and metropolitan rankings appear in Corporate Board Member's second-quarter 2009 issue.
