Sakar Launches New Gaming Accessories Inspired by Hit Nickelodeon Series iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants
First 20 SKUs Developed under Multi-Year Licensing Agreement with Nickelodeon
LOS ANGELES, June 2 /PRNewswire/ --E3 Expo -- Sakar International today announced a 20-SKU lineup of new iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants-branded gaming accessories ranging from protective cases for Nintendo DS/DS Lite/DSi handheld game consoles, to peripherals for the Nintendo Wii and bundled accessory kits. The products will retail between $9.99 and $29.99 and be available in Q3 at Toys 'R Us stores.
The SKUs are the first products to be developed under a multi-year licensing agreement with Nickelodeon that was announced in February. Under the agreement, Sakar will develop an extensive line of branded youth electronics inspired by hit Nickelodeon properties including iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants as well as Ni Hao, Kai-lan, Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!.
The iCarly products to be released in Q3 will include skins and hardshell cases for the Nintendo DS Lite and DSI; a three-piece Nintendo DS "style pack" including a crystal case, neckstrap and stylus; a three-piece remote skin and battery grip kit for the Wii; and a nine-piece DS Lite kit including a game pouch, four game cases, earbuds, neckstrap, USB power cable and car charger.
The SpongeBob SquarePants products will include a similar series of Nintendo DS/DS Lite/DSi items plus foam golf club, baseball bat and tennis racket attachments for the Wii Remote. All products will incorporate SpongeBob's traditional look with the color palette of 'Bikini Bottom.'
Additional products to be released under the Nickelodeon license through 2009 and 2010 include text messengers, walkie talkies, MP3/MP4 players, digital cameras, digital photo frames, iPod and computer accessories, alarm clock radios, CD players, boomboxes, portable DVD players and mini-refrigerators.
Separately today, Sakar also announced a licensing agreement with the company behind The Biggest Loser, the hit NBC reality weight-loss TV series. Sakar will be producing a line of exercise accessories for Nintendo's Wii Fit games and Wii Balance Board that will be sold under The Biggest Loser brand.
Sakar will be exhibiting in Booth #5067 in West Hall at the E3 Expo that opens today at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
