CivicUS Releases 'Three Key Objectives and One Important Date: Picking a Stimulus Reporting Vendor'

Report Provides Guidance to State and Local Government on Selecting a Stimulus Reporting Toolset

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CivicUS, the leading continuous advisory service firm for leadership in local government, announces the release of "Three Key Objectives and One Important Date: Picking a Stimulus Reporting Vendor." This Research Note analyzes the vendors that provide software tools to state and local governments to help them track and report on their spending of federal stimulus dollars.

Included in the Research Note is a categorization of vendors by offering, including:

  • Software to support reporting to the federal government
  • Software to share progress with the citizenry
  • Internal management and dashboard software

The Research Note provides a review of the key vendors in each category, along with recommendations for government leaders, based on their priorities.

"The process of tracking stimulus dollars is a priority for state and local government leaders," said Joaquin Gonzalez, Research Director at CivicUS. "While a market has quickly evolved to provide tools that perform some of the key tasks, no one product offers a complete solution. Our goal with this Research Note is to provide guidance for local government leaders so they can make the right choice for their needs."

While sharing information with the public and employing a dashboard to manage stimulus spending are both useful, CivicUS recommends that they not take precedence over the time-sensitive and legally mandated task of providing data to Federal authorities. While in the future jurisdictions can look forward to systems that offer all necessary capabilities in a single product, a decision as to which software tools to implement now must be made rapidly and correctly.

To speak with Joaquin Gonzalez, CivicUS Research Director, about this Research Note, contact Michael Dombo at 202-997-8858 or mdombo@civicus.com.

CivicUS will hold teleconferences on June 9th and 10th to provide additional guidance to government leaders. There is no charge to participate, but attendance is limited. For information, call 301-296-4440 x1271 or events@civicus.com.
