Glycerin Proven to Improve Bruising and Swelling Caused By Trauma to Skin

Study Findings Confirm Glycerin Accelerates the Healing Process

in Damaged Tissue and Cells

MANDEVILLE, La., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, a leading expert in the field of non-surgical skin rejuvenation announced results from a study demonstrating that glycerin helps to speed up the healing process of damaged tissue and cells, resulting in less bruising and skin discoloration.

In a double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical study of a glycerin-based bruise-reaction product, 65 percent of the patients who experienced bruising after filler injection procedures saw a reduction in the severity and duration of bruising with a single post-procedural application of Bruise Relief(TM) serum versus a placebo. The product was found to reduce the appearance of bruising with no reported side effects.

"Glycerin, as an active ingredient in Bruise Relief(TM), helps with the rejuvenation process of the skin," said Dr. Mary P. Lupo, dermatologist and non-surgical skin rejuvenation expert. "The most common treatment-related complication from filler injections is bruising. I have seen a significant decrease in bruising after treatments with an application of Bruise Relief(TM). Post-procedural Botox and leg vein injections (sclerotherapy) may also benefit from this single post-procedural application."

Glycerin, a humectant, attracts water and helps lubricate and hydrate the skin's cells. It is a thick, water-soluble liquid. Bruises occur when capillary blood vessels break and blood and fluids pool underneath the skin. Glycerin's hydrating properties enable the body to seal off the broken capillaries and blood vessels caused by trauma to the skin and help prevent the pooling of blood and fluids.

Bruise Relief(TM), available in a gel or serum formulation, also contains vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants and is non-toxic and safe for all ages and skin types. Bruise Relief (TM) gel is available nationwide at all CVS stores as well as at Jewel/Osco, Albertsons, Acme, Shaw's and other fine pharmacies across the country.

"Bruise Relief(TM) has been in my family for nearly five generations," said Barbara Cranner, executive vice president of Dr. Holmquist Healthcare, LLC. "We developed the product for the mass market with my stepfather, Dr. Nelson Holmquist, and we are thrilled to share an old family recipe with the world."
