EoPlex Wins Red Herring 100 North America Award as One of the Most Promising Private Technology Ventures in North America

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- EoPlex Technologies, the company that mass produces complex miniature devices in a high speed, low cost process known as "print-manufacturing," has received the Red Herring 100 North America Award. EoPlex was honored among a prestigious list of the year's most promising private technology ventures in North America. The Award was given last night in San Diego at the closing ceremony of the Red Herring North America 100 Conference. CEOs from all the finalist companies, along with members of the VC community and executives from the largest public tech companies, came together to celebrate the 10th year of the Red Herring 100 Awards.

"We are pleased to be selected as a winner of the Red Herring 100," said EoPlex CEO, Arthur L. Chait. "This has been a year of great progress at EoPlex - especially in our new high-volume low-cost green process to manufacture components for cell phones and energy devices. Red Herring was able to quickly identify and assess the innovations in our products and processes, benchmarking us against hundreds of other companies. We are very impressed with the Red Herring team and the dynamic leadership of Alex Vieux who is a genuine Silicon Valley icon."

Chait was among the 200 finalist CEOs who presented their winning strategies during the conference. A panel of judges made their decision from a number of criteria, including these presentations. Earlier, the Red Herring editorial team had selected the most innovative companies from a pool of 1,200. Nominees were evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries.

This unique assessment of potential was complemented by a review of the actual track record and standing of a company, which allows Red Herring to see past the "buzz" and make the list an invaluable instrument for discovering and advocating the greatest business opportunities in the industry.

"This year was especially difficult," said Alex Vieux, Publisher and CEO of Red Herring. "There were so many great companies producing really innovative and amazing products that we had a difficult time narrowing it down to 200. Selecting the final 100 was an even more arduous task. We know that this year's crop will grow into some amazing companies that are sure to go far."

For over 10 years, The Red Herring 100 North America award, open to private technology companies headquartered in North America, has been given to the top 100 tech companies based upon their technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition, and financial health. During the several months leading up to the announcement, hundreds of companies in the telecom, communications, security, Web 2.0, software, hardware, biotech, and clean tech industries sent in their submissions to qualify for the award.

About EoPlex Technologies, Inc.

EoPlex Technologies, Inc. is creator of a new low cost green process that is used to manufacture green products. EoPlex produces components using innovative deposition techniques based on custom printing equipment and proprietary "inks" that carry ceramic, metallic or polymer materials to millions of locations. This allows the manufacture of components with integrated chambers, channels, sensors, circuits, reactors, energy scavengers and other features. Many parts are created simultaneously in large panels and the only tooling required is low-cost printing masks. As a result, there is great flexibility to change designs quickly, allowing fast time to market and even modifications during full production runs. A further advantage of the process is that it is additive and, as a result, is very environmentally friendly. The company is currently using this technology to develop products in markets that include: cell phone antennas, semiconductor packages, energy harvesters to replace batteries, micropumps, fuel cell parts, RF devices, thermal devices and fluidic components. EoPlex is a privately held company based in Redwood City, CA and is backed by ATA Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Labrador Ventures and Draper-Richards.
