WHO: Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will join Marriott's
newly appointed President and COO Arne Sorenson and area
employees during the Habitat build. The group will help fix up
two of 10 foreclosed homes purchased by Habitat for Humanity
Montgomery County. One of the families moving into the
renovated homes will be present for a brief presentation of
environmentally friendly products courtesy of Marriott's green

Chairman and CEO J.W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr. will join employees
at Food & Friends to prepare meals and package groceries for
people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening
illnesses. Marriott volunteers will take the food to the homes
of each patient in Connect by Hertz green vehicles. Follow the

WHAT: May 13 marks Marriott International's annual Spirit To Serve
Our Communities Day around the world. Marriott employees
donate a portion of their day working with local
organizations and nonprofits in their surrounding community.
In 2008, employees donated 433,211 volunteer hours throughout
the year nearly doubling the time spent in 2007. Activities
vary and may include painting shelters and schools, cleaning
up parks and beaches, preparing gifts for the troops,
building homes and more. Nearly 2,000 employees in the
Washington, D.C. area will participate in 25 community
service projects.
