McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Adds Prominent Government Contracts Attorney

Elizabeth Ferrell Joins Government Contracts Practice

WASHINGTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) announced today that Elizabeth ("Beth") Ferrell, a prominent government contracts attorney for more than 20 years, has joined the firm as a partner in the Government Contracts practice in Washington, DC. MLA is home to the oldest and largest nationally established government contracts practice in the United States.

Ms. Ferrell previously chaired the national government contracts practice at another large national firm, where she focused on government contracts and complex litigation matters. Among Ms. Ferrell's notable client representations has been her work with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation, and later the Boeing Company, in the prosecution of the claims and litigation relating to the default termination of a multi-billion dollar contract for the A-12 stealth attack aircraft.

"Beth's broad range and depth of government contract knowledge, and her experience in complex litigation, particularly of claims related to the performance and termination of government contracts, enable her to provide invaluable counsel to MLA's clients," said Tom Abbott, Chair of the firm's Government Contracts Department. "In this time of unparalleled activity in the federal government contracts community, we are thrilled to have an attorney of Beth's caliber and experience select MLA as her new home, particularly given that so many law firms are eager to enter and grow this area of practice. We believe we provide a superb platform for Beth to continue to serve and expand her extensive client base."

Ms. Ferrell has counseled clients in all aspects of federal procurement, including regulatory compliance, performance disputes, data rights, funding, teaming agreements, cost accounting and audit issues, cost and pricing data issues and False Claims Act matters. On the litigation front, she has focused on complex civil litigation, including disputes including contract terminations, contractor requests for equitable adjustment, bid protests and disputes between prime and subcontractors.

MLA is recognized by Chambers USA as a "tier one" Government Contracts law firm, "a true titan of the field... (with) a breadth of expertise and heritage unsurpassed in the public procurement sector." As the first government contract practice in the U.S., MLA's leadership in the contracting and procurement legal field has spanned defense contracting from disputes before the post-Korean War 'Profit Renegotiations Boards' to the representation of the largest stability operations contractors in Iraq. In recent years, MLA has been in the forefront of the latest developments in the procurement field, including the new mandatory disclosure requirements; Biodefense and Public Health procurement; stability contracting; stimulus spending; and the recent upheaval in task and delivery order contracting.
