"As the only airline headquartered in California, we're pleased to continue our partnership with California State Parks Foundation and to bring together our teammates, our guests and the community to help protect and restore some of our most precious natural resources - especially those in underserved communities in our own backyard," said Frances Fiorillo, Senior Vice President of People, In-flight and Guest Services at Virgin America. "We're also proud to toast our forward-thinking guests who choose to support environmental restoration and energy conservation projects across the state."
In addition to the Earth Day flights, Virgin America teammates will also lend a hand at California State Parks Foundation work projects on Saturday, April 25 - including efforts at Candlestick Point State Recreation Area that will expand and improve the park's community garden and shoreline. Candlestick Point State Recreation Area is the state's first "urban" park and includes a community garden, open wildlife areas and other public spaces that support a better way of life in this underserved Bay Area neighborhood.
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Virgin America for the second consecutive year," said Elizabeth Goldstein, President of California State Parks Foundation. "Their contributions of time and financial resources will help us continue our mission to restore and preserve the state's historic and natural treasures. And the VeeV Treetini program is a pretty fun addition this Earth Day."
For every Treetini served, VeeV will also plant a tree in flood-ravaged Tamil Nadu, India.
"As another California-based company, this partnership is a perfect fit for VeeV," said Carter Reum, Managing Partner of VeeV. "We strive to raise awareness and support for the environment while running a carbon-neutral, sustainable and eco-friendly company," continued Reum.
