Jon Callas Receives Honorary PGP(R) Fellow Award

PGP Corporation CSO and CTO Recognized for Encryption Technology Innovations and Contributions to the Security Industry

SAN FRANCISCO, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Conference -- PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data protection, today announced it has bestowed Jon Callas with the honorary PGP(R) Fellow Award, recognizing Callas for his encryption technology innovations and his significant contributions to the state of cryptography and the security industry, as well as for his human-rights passion to protect privacy rights. This is the second PGP(R) Fellow Award to be granted in the Company's history. Will Price, chief architect and one of the co-founders of PGP Corporation, was honored with the first PGP(R) Fellow Award in 2008 for designing and engineering key PGP(R) products and patents.

Well-known and respected in the industry as a pioneer of cryptography, Jon Callas has been the mastermind behind the strategy and development of PGP(R) technology since its inception, and is the author of the original OpenPGP standard that is in widespread use by millions of people around the world today. Callas' technological achievements extend far beyond OpenPGP, as he is the creator and inventor of multiple patents, including the company's cornerstone key server patent 6,336,186, and has published numerous technical papers relating to encryption, public-key cryptography, security, privacy, and virtual economies.

Callas is highly credited in making PGP(R) software the world renowned security standard that it is today and weaving its technology into the fabric of the Internet. As PGP Corporation's chief security officer and chief technology officer, Callas has been the steward behind all of PGP Corporation's international standards efforts and certifications, including the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 140-2), Common Criteria and The CESG Assisted Products Service (CAPS) certification. As the diligent sheppard and evangelist of the PGP(R) technology vision, millions of customers trust and rely on PGP(R) solutions to protect the privacy of their confidential data, intellectual property and communications.

"All of us at PGP Corporation are proud and honored to present the second PGP Fellow Award to Jon Callas, who has been a driving force behind making PGP(R) solutions certified by industry and government bodies worldwide," said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "Jon Callas and Will Price have contributed significantly to the security industry and to the foundation of the PGP technology used around the world today; to them both we owe our sincerest thanks."

Today, Callas continues to lead the security technology and innovation strategy for the company and represents PGP Corporation on all standard bodies and government interest groups. Most recently, Callas became one of the founding members of the Cloud Security Alliance and contributed to its inaugural white paper that will be unveiled at this week's RSA Conference.

As the first PGP Fellow, Will Price was recognized for architecting the PGP Universal(TM), PGP(R) Whole Disk Encryption and PGP(R) NetShare products. Price's history and inventions of PGP technology start even before the original PGP Inc. in his work with Phil Zimmermann. Over the years, Price has led the design, engineering and transition of PGP(R) technology from a command line interface to a full GUI-based product line. Price has continued to service customers, raising the value of PGP(R) technology to new levels and application usages.
