Ouchless line extends to offer consumer-desired features
ATLANTA, April 14, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Newell Rubbermaid's (NYSE: NWL) Beauty & Style global business unit today announced the launch of Goody(R) Ouchless(R)Flex, a new line of comfort-flex hair fashions, including pressure-free headbands, updo barrettes and claw clips, designed to eliminate the discomforts sometimes associated with hair accessories.
A recent survey found a majority of women report experiencing discomfort caused by hard or ill-fitting hair accessories, ranging from snags to headaches. Overcoming this is relatively simple with soft accessories like elastics and headscarves, but it is more of a challenge with accessories like headbands, barrettes and claw clips, which are typically made of harder materials. Goody OuchlessFlex addresses this consumer issue with a specially-formulated, ultra-flexible plastic that can still hold its shape and wearers' hairstyles. OuchlessFlex offers a 100-percent comfort guarantee: consumers who don't find these accessories comfortable can get a full refund or a comparable replacement accessory.
"At Goody we are constantly engaging with our core consumers to ensure we maintain a solid understanding of what women want for their hair, and we are dedicated to meeting both their aesthetic and performance-related hair product needs," said A.J. Ross, president of Newell Rubbermaid's Beauty & Style global business unit. "Based on consumer insights, we pursued extensive research and development of comfortable and stylish hard hair accessories so women can enjoy the hairstyles they create - and comfortably wear them all day."
Goody launched Ouchless a decade ago as a line of no-metal elastics and has since expanded it to include styling tools such as combs and brushes. The addition of Flex takes the Ouchless collection into three new categories of comfortable hair fashions:
Pressure-Free Headbands
Sixty-two percent(1) of women report they have experienced headaches from wearing headbands. Goody OuchlessFlex has improved this classic accessory with a soft shape that contours to the curve of the head and flexible tips that avoid pressure points behind the ears to eliminate headband squeeze.
Comfort-Flex Updo Barrettes
Goody's OuchlessFlex updo barrettes are soft, flexible and offer long-lasting style with a Comfort Hold(R) stay-put strip and a no-metal design to minimize snags. With a stylish contoured design and next to zero snags, these versatile clips allow wearers to lean back and relax without the discomfort of sharp edges irritating the scalp.
Comfort-Flex Claw Clips
Seventy-seven percent(1) of women say bulky claw clips have caused them discomfort when they lean back. Goody OuchlessFlex claw clips were developed with ultimate comfort in mind. They are cleverly designed with curved teeth to prevent digging, flexible wings that gently give when wearers lean back while still holding hair firmly in place, and covered hinges keep hair from getting caught. These stylish clips are available in a variety of sizes for every hair length.
The Goody OuchlessFlex collection is available at leading food, drug and mass market retailers. Suggested retail pricing for the line ranges from $2.99 to $5.99.
