WHAT: Inman Park 38th Annual Spring Festival - Tour of Homes: Atlanta's eclectic and revered Inman Park Spring Festival will happen Friday, April 24 (hour tour only on Friday) through Sunday, April 26, offering food, music, fun, the city's largest street market, its most outrageous parade - voted Atlanta's Best Neighborhood Parade by Atlanta Magazine - and a home tour that includes Victorian-era treasures, Craftsman Bungalows, contemporary gems, and stunning renovations. Mark your calendar...this is Atlanta's best block party! Don't miss it.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, April 24-26, 2009

WHERE: Founded in 1889 just two miles from downtown Atlanta, historic Inman Park is the city's oldest suburb. After periods of decline culminating in the 1950s, Inman Park was restored by a group of dedicated residents, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

WHO: Sponsored by the Inman Park Neighborhood Association (IPNA) - the non-profit association established in the early 1970s - to raise funds for local schools and theaters, and to contribute to the development of Atlanta's Freedom Park, along with neighborhood improvement and beautification projects.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Atlanta's largest Street Market, offering 200 booths of antique furniture to handcrafted wares.
  • A juried Arts and Crafts Show, including more than 100 of the Southeast's finest artists displaying a wide variety of sculpture, photos, paintings, and mixed-media.
  • The city's quirkiest and most colorful Parade, led by the Inman Park Butterfly, followed by floats, bands, art cars, politicians, drill teams, Kelly's Seed and Feed Marching Abominables, clowns, jugglers, and many more. (Parade begins at 2:00 p.m. on Sat. April 25th.)
  • Parade Grand Marshal will be Frederick Law Olmstead, visionary landscape architect and genius behind many of Atlanta's great green spaces.
  • A Tour of Homes featuring elegant, turn-of-the-century Victorian homes, bungalows, contemporary designs and modern interpretations of traditional styles. This year will feature nine homes that have never been on tour before, including one of the oldest residences in Atlanta!!!
  • Live Entertainment - including rock-n-roll, blues, swing, jazz, folk, bluegrass, world music. Featured acts will include Ike Stubblefield, Cowboy Envy, Randall Bramblett, and Michelle Malone. Includes a stage sponsored by WONDERroot, an Atlanta-based non-profit arts organization committed to uniting artists and community to inspire positive social change
  • Inman Park Dance Festival - a festival of classical and contemporary dance at the Trolley Barn
  • Children's Activities Area returns to Springfield Park with inflatables, face-painting, and more.
  • A wide variety of Food, Beverages and Beer on sale throughout the Festival.
