Olixir Addresses USB DOD Flash Drive Ban, Unveils DARTT Approved, Highest Capacity Rugged, Transportable Hard Drives at FOSE 2009

WASHINGTON, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Olixir Technologies, the industry's leading provider of shock and vibration protected external hard drives announced at FOSE 2009 that it will add a host of robust security features to its family of Mobile DataVault Transportable Hard Drives to deliver a high-capacity transportable storage solution that is fully-compliant with the requirements outlined in the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication 140-2. In addition, the company released the highest capacity Mobile DataVault 3DX Transportable Hard Drives in the company's history. Olixir's popular line of military-grade, transportable hard drives, towers and 1U rack are displayed in Emtec Federal's booth (#2401) at FOSE.

Incorporating an advanced set of security features including anti-virus, anti-malware and encryption agents, which have already been approved by the DOD DARTT Team, Olixir's external drives meet all criteria to be connected via USB cables to U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) networked computers. Beginning in Q2 2009, this comprehensive security capability will be resident on the Mobile DataVault products and run independently of the host computer to proactively protect the drive and the network from malware and virus infections.

Olixir is also unveiling new 1TB and 1.5TB additions to the Mobile DataVault 3DX product family at the show. Backwards-compatible with Olixir's existing family of chassis-, tower- and rack-based storage systems, in addition to USB 2.0, and Firewire cable options, the new high-capacity transportable hard drives are now available with SATA and eSATA cables for enhanced performance and data security when used in standalone external hard drive configurations.

"With a wide variety of computing environments ranging from small branch offices to large enterprise-class networks and tactical deployed operations, government demands storage solutions that deliver the highest levels of security, scalability, versatility, performance and durability," explained Darshan Shah, president of Olixir Technologies. "Our Mobile DataVault product lines are rapidly replacing tape and COTS external hard drives based on the unique ability to address each of those requirements. The addition of the anti-virus, anti-malware and FIPS 140-2 certified encryption capabilities will establish our Mobile DataVault as the ideal stand-alone solution for storing, protecting and transporting mission-critical data in any in-garrison or deployed environment. By introducing the new high-capacity, backwards-compatible 1TB and 1.5TB drives, not only are we increasing the standalone utility of the product, but we're also enhancing the scalability of our existing and future tower, rack-mounted and chassis-based products."
