Dow Recognized as a Leader in Sustainability Reporting
MIDLAND, Mich., March 6 /PRNewswire/ --Measurements matter. At Dow (NYSE: DOW), keeping score and tracking our measurements are part of everything we do. It is no different for our commitment to Setting the Standard for Sustainability or for our 2015 Sustainability Goals.
Recently Dow was recognized for its outstanding sustainability reporting and its commitment to transparency regarding progress toward its 2015 Sustainability Goals by Ethical Corporation magazine, an independent media firm created to encourage debate and discussion on responsible business.
Dow received a positive review in the magazine's February edition for the scope and breadth of sustainability information on dow.com, stating that the Company exemplifies "a level of accountability that most companies do not yet meet." The best practices noted include: linkage of the 2015 Goals to innovation and long-term business success, fact sheets and position statements on challenging issues, and the multitude of case studies showcasing programs, products or processes.
"Excellence in reporting is critical to building trust, a sense of accountability and responsibility with our stakeholders," said Neil Hawkins, Dow's vice president of Sustainability/EH&S. "Our customers increasingly need to know that the companies they are buying from are addressing challenges such as climate change, and are socially responsible."
This is not the first time Dow has received external recognition for its sustainability reporting practices. Last October, in a study of sustainability communications among S&P 100 companies, Dow was cited as the best practice example for "holistic transparency;" and, in a separate study, ranked No. 8 among Fortune 50 companies for environmental sustainability reporting on the Internet.
Dow remains committed to continuously improving our performance and to publicly reporting our progress. Please visit www.dow.com for the latest Dow Sustainability, Business, and Performance news.
