D.C. Speech will address the Obama Education Agenda, Federal Stimulus

and the Role of Technology and Innovation in Schools

WASHINGTON, March 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, announced today that its Ed Tech Government Forum will feature a keynote address by Marshall "Mike" Smith, Senior Counselor to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Smith will discuss the Obama education agenda, education innovation, the federal stimulus rollout, and the role of technology and elearning.

Media are invited to attend the 6-7:30pm reception on March 17 in Washington, DC, during which Smith will speak. The address will be attended by some 150 senior high-tech executives and education leaders. The executives - from SIIA-member publishers/developers of educational software, online curriculum, and educational technologies - are in Washington, DC to learn about federal initiatives shaping K-20 education in order that they can best help educators and students meet their educational needs through technology.
