Sagem Orga Introduces SIM Cards with SmartTrust WIB(TM) 2.0 Platform

Latest Solution Allows Developers and Service Providers to More Easily Deploy Revenue-Generating Applications

STOCKHOLM, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- SmartTrust, a developer of MDM and SIM management software for mobile operators, today announced that Sagem Orga, pioneer and a global leader in the smart card industry, has introduced the first SIM cards with SmartTrust WIB(TM) 2.0 in an effort to support a platform for emerging and next-generation Dynamic SIM Toolkit (DSTK) services. WIB 2.0 helps to create an environment that enables service providers to offer the latest services and innovative offerings by delivering a more complete analysis of subscriber behavior.

WIB 2.0 combines the benefits of mature technologies such as a Java, SMS, cell broadcast, Bearer Independent Protocol (BIP) and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) to support the DSTK services of today and the future.

"SmartTrust WIB 2.0 has clearly helped us to increase the value of the SIM card by allowing service providers, through an enhanced analysis of subscriber behavior, to better understand and adapt their offerings to the needs and desires of their subscribers," said Didier Serodon, CTO, Sagem Orga. "WIB 2.0 also allows developers to better take advantage of the power of Java applications due to its close integration with this leading technology platform."

By uniquely using USSD and BIP, the WIB 2.0 platform helps to reduce service response times and allow for higher-speed and more frequent service updates ultimately leading to an improved customer experience. This approach also eliminates some basic limitations encountered when designing DSTK Value Added Service applications by ultimately delivering services with more content that can in turn generate additional profits. The use of cellular broadcast technology with WIB 2.0 provides wireless operators with the information needed to introduce efficient and attractive mobile marketing campaigns as operators look to differentiate themselves from competitors as well as increase average revenue per user.

"The delivery of SIM cards with the WIB 2.0 platform represents a major step toward building a comprehensive wireless ecosystem that can offer content providers, application developers, mobile operators and infrastructure providers with an impressive set of services," said Jeff Bork, CEO, SmartTrust. "To date, more than one billion SIM cards containing the SmartTrust WIB specification have been manufactured and distributed. WIB 2.0 will help to further solidify our leadership position in the market as we seek to strengthen the ability for mobile Internet and WIB application developers to build more sophisticated DSTK value added services."
