iQ Academy Wisconsin Kicks Off Open Enrollment Period With Launch of New Student Center and Middle School

Local students can enroll tuition-free in online school through February 20

WAUKESHA, Wis., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Wisconsin's largest online school, iQ Academy, is kicking off the state's open enrollment period with the announcement of a new student center set to open for the upcoming school year. The student center will be located in the metro-Milwaukee area, providing a physical venue for students of the online school to socialize and study. Earlier this year, iQ Academy also announced the expansion of its curriculum to include courses for middle school students in grades 6 - 8. These new changes have been spurred by the success of the school's online high school program, which has been in operation since 2004.

"The iQ Academy curriculum is focused on providing Wisconsin students a flexible, personalized education, including small group instruction and one- on-one interaction with state-certified teachers," said Lisa McClure, Director of iQ Academy Wisconsin. "We are excited to build upon our successes by expanding the program to middle school students, as well as adding a student center to enhance the experience."

Each year, Wisconsin students have the opportunity to enroll in other public schools outside their home district, tuition free, if they complete an application during open enrollment. Wisconsin students can receive free tuition at iQ Academy by submitting an open enrollment form to the School District of Waukesha between now and the February 20th deadline. Students are under no obligation until summer when they officially enroll. Once enrolled, students receive a laptop computer, printer and textbooks required for their courses. As in traditional public schools, these learning tools are provided to students at no cost for as long as they are enrolled in iQ Academy Wisconsin.

"iQ Academy provides a high-quality school option for Wisconsin students in grades 6 - 12 seeking maximum flexibility," added Rick Nettesheim, Principal of iQ Academy. "The online environment caters to a wide range of students, including previously homeschooled students, athletes, performers and others with busy travel or work schedules, students with special needs and students seeking Advanced Placement courses or electives unavailable in their local school district."

The award-winning curriculum at iQ Academy Wisconsin includes over 120 core, AP, and elective courses taught by certified Wisconsin teachers. In addition to core courses in math, science and English, students may also choose from a wide range of electives including five world languages, 16 Advanced Placement courses, and high-tech classes such as digital imaging, Web design, and Java scripting.

Teachers and students of iQ Academy are hosting a series of open houses across the state this month, allowing prospective students to ask questions and see a demonstration of how the school operates and what a virtual classroom looks like. A complete open house schedule is attached. For more information about iQ Academy, please visit http://www.iqacademywi.com or call 1-866-468-6472.
