DETROIT, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced that its Covisint subsidiary will provide the VIP Health Initiative with a collaborative network for the secure sharing of sensitive patient information and improved physician collaboration. Physicians and other care providers face the challenge of delivering improved care amid shrinking resources. They are increasingly turning to technology to achieve their combined clinical, administrative and business goals. The VIP Health Initiative will leverage existing technical resources and provide a single, secure point for participating physicians to access sensitive patient records. This also enables participating physicians to interact with other participating laboratories, physicians and healthcare organizations. Connectivity to pharmacies and the ePrescribe feature improve patient care, decrease costs and qualify physicians for a Medicare incentive program.

"VIP Health Initiative's key objective was to leverage our existing resources in a way that improved the tools and resources available to physicians and saved money," said Ted Steuer, Executive Director, VIP Health Initiative. "Covisint's proven and trusted network extends our existing investments today, and it will scale along with our growth, adding improvements tomorrow."

The Covisint-enabled physician collaboration network will provide the VIP Health Initiative with a secure single point of access from any web browser to clinical, administrative and insurance information. Covisint's cloud-based approach also enables participating physicians to interact with all major healthcare systems and technologies, including ePrescribing, labs, patient registrations and other key healthcare data.

"Covisint provides networked connectivity for VIP Health Initiative physicians to securely access the information they need, regardless of geography or technology," said Brett Furst, Covisint Vice President of Healthcare. "Covisint's network will equip these physicians to leverage their existing platform, securely propelling its Southern California doctors into the new world of healthcare connectivity."

Covisint's on-demand collaboration platform and cloud computing approach helps virtual communities securely access, use and share time sensitive information. Covisint solves business problems by streamlining and automating processes globally--connecting state and nationally based communities, organizations and systems in the healthcare, automotive and financial services industries, as well as the public sector.
