Voyager Expanded Learning Partners with TeacherTube for World Math Day Video Challenge
 

DALLAS, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In anticipation of World Math Day (March 4, 2009), Voyager Expanded Learning(R) announced today that it will partner with TeacherTube for the first annual World Math Day Video Challenge. The Challenge, open to all U.S. classrooms, grades three through eight, begins today and runs through February 20, 2009.

    How the Challenge Works
    1.  Teachers will record a two to three minute video highlighting how
        their students are preparing for World Math Day (Registration is free
        athttp://www.worldmathday.com ).
    2.  Teachers will then upload their video to
       http://www.teachertube.com/worldmathday.php where it can be voted on
        by fellow teachers, students and parents. Teachers can register for
        free athttp://www.teachertube.com . (Only teachers registered on
        TeacherTube can upload the video.)


    Challenge Rules
    1.  Each video must be two to three minutes in length. Any video longer
        than three minutes will be disqualified.
    2.  Videos should be centered on students preparing for World Math Day.
    3.  Videos must be uploaded to Voyager's contest page at
       http://www.teachertube.com/worldmathday.php .
    4.  Video and audio content must be suitable for all audience viewing.
    5.  Videos can include puppets, graphics, music and voice-over.
    6.  Only one class per school is eligible to win first prize.

Judging

The top 10 videos with the most votes (voted on by students, parents and teachers) will advance to the finals. Videos in the final round will be judged by a panel of educators who will determine the winner based on the following criteria:

    -- Creativity
    -- Level of Student Excitement
    -- Relevance to World Math Day

Prizes

The top 10 finalists will receive a one-year classroom license for VmathLive(R), Voyager's online math platform for students in grades three through eight.

The winning video will be showcased on http://www.teachertube.com and featured throughout the year to promote World Math Day 2010. The winner will also receive:

    1.  A visit from Vbot, VmathLive's mascot.
    2.  A trophy for their school commemorating the event and their
        accomplishment.

World Math Day is Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Children of all ages and ability levels from around the globe will unite on this day in their quest to set a world record in answering math questions correctly at http://www.worldmathday.com .
